It's officially FALL in my house. It might still be in the 90's outside, but once August comes around, I start pretending the leaves are changing colors and that the temperatures have fallen. It's pretty much all in my head, but there's something that August does to me that gets me excited for cooler weather. It probably stems from the fact that Fall/Winter is my favorite time of year, so if I can start it early in my head, it'll last longer. That makes the season a whole SEVEN months long. Yep, that's gotta be it.
So, now is the time to dig out those sweaters and make sure they're in tip-top wearing shape! Dig out those bins and bags of sweaters you have stashed in the back of your closet and see what damage summer has done... *gasp* is that a MOTH HOLE?!?! Oh phew, just a shadow.
If you do end up with a moth hole, consider sending your sweater to *moi* to be up-cycled into a one-of-a-kind cashmere creation as a christmas gift! People go nuts over handmade stuff, especially when it's eco-friendly in some way. Plus, I have some really cute new packaging that I make myself from vintage sheets. What could be cuter than a cashmere teddy bear wrapped up in a reusable bag? Nothing. Except maybe the lucky kid who gets to open it on Christmas... Just throwin' it out there...
Enjoy your last month of Summer (or first month of Fall...) and bring out the cashmere!!

I like to buy things second-hand for a lot of reasons. Mainly, the discount that is usually involved... But also the eco-friendly component (reduce, reuse, and recycle, people!), the fact that you're probably not going to ever be wearing the same thing as any of your family or friends, you can score one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, AND save enough money to buy something else you've had your eyes on. It's a win-win-win-win situation in my book! If the fact that someone else once wore something doesn't bother you, then I encourage you all to consider buying cashmere second-hand. If it's good quality and taken care of properly, you can pass it on to your grandkids... It's not going to wear out and get "bleh" like cotton does.
Ok, so this "new" way to buy used cashmere is ThredUp. They're an online (they have an app, too!) second-hand clothing store. And for whatever reason, sometimes their cashmere is CHEAP! I've bought a bunch from them already including a TSE twin set with a beautiful print and silk accents for $25. TSE. For $25. A SET. Awesome. But it doesn't stop there!!! You can order a clean-out bag to send in your own clothes that you don't wear anymore, and they will give you store credit in exchange. They also have a consignment set up for the pieces that are worth a lot of $$ so don't let that scare you. Basically, you send in a bag of last year's clothes and end up with a box filled with new-to-you goodies for pennies! I love this idea. It's so economical and FUN!
This sweater? Elena Solano, 100% Cashmere, size M for $10.49. See?!!
But wait, there's more! If you use this link to go to their site and you haven't ordered before, you get $10 to spend for free. And I get $10 to spend for free. Can't beat that, right? So once you place an order, tell your friends and family because you can score even more great stuff at huge discounts for referring them. You're welcome! ;o)

Check out this month's issue of Men's Health! I was interviewed for an article (it was cut down to a little mention, unfortunately). Regardless, my name is in Men's Health Magazine and that's exciting! I guess I'm officially a cashmere expert now ;o)

Soooooo I've been doing some hard core googling tonight and I found that Restoration Hardware Baby & Child is having a sale on their baby cashmere right now! Some great gift options are on their site right now, including a sweet cashmere bootie and hat gift set for only $39. That's really reasonable... REALLY reasonable. Retail is $49 and I think that's a reasonable price, too! Baby Bootie/Hat Gift Set
Guess what I found tonight?! A clothing brand in the UK that is devoted entirely to cashmere clothes for kids!! They do offer overseas shipping so I'm excited to try them out and see what the quality is like! Take a peek, cashmere lovers! Stellina Baby How adorable is this little jacket??

Some of you may know that I now have a baby girl named Evelyn! She's one lucky girl to have a mom like me (if I do say so myself... Being a mom is one of the few things I think I'm actually good at!) Not only does she get a charming, funny, and nice mother, she gets a crafty one who insists on making her lots and lots of cashmere toys. One day while I was still pregnant with her, I decided to make a new toy because I was going stir crazy with nesting. Here's what I came up with:
An owl! Okay, it's an owl/Shrek... I call it the Shrowl... This is a prototype. I just want to be clear. LOL. I cut it freehand without actually thinking about it too much. And so the owl ears turned into Shrek ears. She loves it anyways!! It's also survived quite a bit of baby spit up… And washing machine/dryer cycles. So, if you don't care about cashmere felting or shrinking, then throw it in the wash! If anybody has any funny creature special requests, send me a message through my website www.CashmereCreations.com
