J Crew Baby Cashmere

Well, J Crew has done it again: made amazingly cute cashmere sweaters for little kiddos. If only I could afford to shell out $145 on four or five (ok, twelve) cashmere sweaters for my sweet little girl. The problem is, she's a rough and tumble little girl and at just 19 mos she's managed to ding herself up quite a bit. She loves to RUN and consequently, gets dirty. I just can't spend that much on something that might not make it past one wear. But, you should. Seriously. Especially if you have a little man who happens to be in the infant stage where they don't move around a lot, but have stopped spitting up. In which case, BLOW YOUR MONEY ON THIS:

J. Crew has this on backorder, but it's expected to ship November 10th. Whoop-de-doo a whopping two week wait. Worth it! And it's 25% off of $145 right now and you should have it. You just should. It's French, it's adorable, and will make everyone smile. And make you want to snuggle your little man more than you already do because cashmere just does that to people. You're welcome. And PS, sell it to me when you're done because I have a nephew who is going to be born early December who will be an angel baby and never spit up on his cashmere sweaters. Thanks! ;o)

The Swash...

As I was browsing through by Bed Bath & Beyond flyer today I saw something that might just change my life... the SWASH.

We don't have regular cable television in our house and so maybe I've just missed commercials for this thing? I don't know. But what I DO know, is that it claims to be an option in between washing and dry cleaning clothing. AND it's safe on cashmere! Or so they say... And I saw it for the first time in the ad for Bed Bath & Beyond this week. Be still my heart.

I would LOVE to get my hands on one of these things and test it out on some cashmere and see how it compares to hand washing and dry-cleaning. It might end up being a great option for those who are too scared to hand wash, don't have a good HE machine with a hand wash cycle, etc. I wonder if I can find a model on display somewhere and give it a try?

Anyone have any insights on this amazing thing?!

Bed Bath & Beyond has it for sale for $499. I'm not sure I can get my husband on board for such an extravagant purchase but boy do I want one! It looks like it will be the start of some really cool clothing care technology. Like the iPhone 6, it's amazing me what technology is doing these days.

So, if anyone has one of these and has tried it out in person, PLEASE SHARE! I'm dying to know what you think of it for your cashmere pieces ;o)

Fall is here! ... Almost

It's officially FALL in my house. It might still be in the 90's outside, but once August comes around, I start pretending the leaves are changing colors and that the temperatures have fallen. It's pretty much all in my head, but there's something that August does to me that gets me excited for cooler weather. It probably stems from the fact that Fall/Winter is my favorite time of year, so if I can start it early in my head, it'll last longer. That makes the season a whole SEVEN months long. Yep, that's gotta be it.

So, now is the time to dig out those sweaters and make sure they're in tip-top wearing shape! Dig out those bins and bags of sweaters you have stashed in the back of your closet and see what damage summer has done... *gasp* is that a MOTH HOLE?!?! Oh phew, just a shadow.

If you do end up with a moth hole, consider sending your sweater to *moi* to be up-cycled into a one-of-a-kind cashmere creation as a christmas gift! People go nuts over handmade stuff, especially when it's eco-friendly in some way. Plus, I have some really cute new packaging that I make myself from vintage sheets. What could be cuter than a cashmere teddy bear wrapped up in a reusable bag? Nothing. Except maybe the lucky kid who gets to open it on Christmas... Just throwin' it out there...

Enjoy your last month of Summer (or first month of Fall...) and bring out the cashmere!!

New way to buy used cashmere!

I like to buy things second-hand for a lot of reasons. Mainly, the discount that is usually involved... But also the eco-friendly component (reduce, reuse, and recycle, people!), the fact that you're probably not going to ever be wearing the same thing as any of your family or friends, you can score one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, AND save enough money to buy something else you've had your eyes on. It's a win-win-win-win situation in my book! If the fact that someone else once wore something doesn't bother you, then I encourage you all to consider buying cashmere second-hand. If it's good quality and taken care of properly, you can pass it on to your grandkids... It's not going to wear out and get "bleh" like cotton does.

Ok, so this "new" way to buy used cashmere is ThredUp. They're an online (they have an app, too!) second-hand clothing store. And for whatever reason, sometimes their cashmere is CHEAP! I've bought a bunch from them already including a TSE twin set with a beautiful print and silk accents for $25. TSE. For $25. A SET. Awesome. But it doesn't stop there!!! You can order a clean-out bag to send in your own clothes that you don't wear anymore, and they will give you store credit in exchange. They also have a consignment set up for the pieces that are worth a lot of $$ so don't let that scare you. Basically, you send in a bag of last year's clothes and end up with a box filled with new-to-you goodies for pennies! I love this idea. It's so economical and FUN!

This sweater? Elena Solano, 100% Cashmere, size M for $10.49. See?!!

But wait, there's more! If you use this link to go to their site and you haven't ordered before, you get $10 to spend for free. And I get $10 to spend for free. Can't beat that, right? So once you place an order, tell your friends and family because you can score even more great stuff at huge discounts for referring them. You're welcome! ;o)
